A NEW VIEW
OF MONFERRATO

Hic et Nunc, from the Latin «Here and Now». Because «here», in Vignale Monferrato, is where we have decided to start growing vines, not anywhere else. And we have decided to do it «now», immediately putting this extraordinary land at work.

OUR HISTORY

For more than a century, the plots of the Mongetto Region which refer to Ca’ Milano, just north of Vignale Monferrato, have been planted with vines. Proof are the centuries-old Barbera vines, which have found a home here since the 1920s, and the fact that they have been surrounded by fields, meadows, groves and pastures for livestock. In the 1960s, activities specializing in wine production started in Mongetto. The vine rows secured the best and most sunny areas. 

The grapes were not processed individually, but were entrusted to the local social wineries. 2012 marked a new beginning. The Rosolen family has bought 100 hectares of land and begun a gradual work of recovery. First, Ca’ Milano – the farmhouse – has undergone restoration to bring the wine resort Ca’ dell’ebbro to life. Then, the vineyards followed: they have been rehabilitated, reorganized and, when necessary, replanted.

hospitality and care of the landscape:

Monferrato.

In 2016, the first vintages of Barbera del Monferrato, Piemonte Cortese and two sparkling Brut made with local varieties (barbera and grignolino) were launched on the market. The goal was to quit quantity-driven winemaking to ensure excellence, producing classic wines of Monferrato.

While work on the new cellar – a state of the art project hinged on the concept of hospitality immersed in the vineyards – began, they carried on the research work on local varieties, which Hic et Nunc have chosen to process by fully respecting their purity: the Barbera d’Asti, the Dolcetto, the Nebbiolo del Monferrato and, especially, the Grignolino, which marks Vignale as its chosen home.

CHOOSING
TRANSPARENCY

We do not have cooperative work, but permanent and seasonal staff. This is an added assurance of how seriously they take their jobs at the vineyard, with the same people working on it each passing season: their knowledge of the vineyards builds up as their commitment increases.

TEAM

Hic et Nunc boasts a team of professionals whose excellent skills complement each other, and who know how to observe tradition in their work, without any excessive formality or bias: the only goal is to ensure the pureness of their wines, letting them truly speak for themselves. Some of them have roots in this territory: they are part of the history of Ca’ Milano, of the Mongetto Region and the reality of Monferrato:

they are the solid ground that is the foundation of this venture. While others are from the neighbouring areas and they have shown patience and courage in dealing with local wines, trying to understand them thoroughly and facing them, head-on: they are the younger and more innovative part of the winery, thanks to their skills and the luck of having no pressure on them..
