Our Altromondo Piemonte Doc Grignolino 2018 has been awarded with a Berliner Gold, the highest recognition given by the German wine competition, Berliner Wine Trophy.
Grignolino is one of those wines – and vines – that we have close to our heart. It is a native Monferrato grape, and it reaches excellent quality here in Vignale, where all of our vineyards can be found. This is fruit of the land (a perfect mix of white and clayey soils) and microclimate. But most of all, thanks to a centuries-old vocation, with cultivation of Grignolino dating back to the 13th century.
Grignolino is a very special grape. It is demanding, difficult to grow and to vinify because its berries are small and the skin is very thin Yet, it becomes an original and brilliant wine that conquers enthusiastic acclaim for its surprising nature.
Our Altromondo perfectly embodies the complex personality of this wine and Hic Et Nunc’s winemaking style: using 100% Grignolino to reveal absolute elegance and intense aromas. Although endowed with a marked tannic structure, our Altromondo Grignolino 2018 knows how to bring out its freshness through delicate notes of red fruit, enriched by light spicy hints, all in perfect harmony.

What is Berliner Wine Trophy? The world’s largest wine competition and the most important wine tasting in Germany. Every year, it brings the world’s most famous producers together, with a number of competing samples exceeding 14,000 labels each year. Wines are blind tasted by an independent jury of experts: only those scoring more than 85 out of 100 can be awarded with the Berliner Gold Medal.
