It’s time for new vintages at Hic et Nunc winery, always committed to enhancing the terroir of the Basso Monferrato by returning to the essence of its classic wines with a conscious choice of authenticity, native grape varieties, and vinification in full respect of the varietal characteristics, in search of authentic purity in aromas and sensory notes. The new vintages of Barbera del Monferrato Superiore and Monferrato Casalese Cortese are no exception:

Monumento, Barbera del Monferrato Superiore Docg (2020)

This is a pure Barbera that well represents the authenticity of the territory, with grapes coming from the “Vasio” vineyard, which is up to 80 years old on a base of soil rich in clay and marl that plays a crucial role in the development of this extraordinary variety.

These vines have developed a sort of natural selection, gradually adapting to the conditions of their environment: they have deeper and more extensive roots that can access deeper layers, increasing their resilience and adaptability. This contributes to the production of superior quality grapes, with greater aromatic complexity and a better ability to express the terroir of Monferrato.

Careful manual selection of the bunches is followed by skillful vinification: maceration on the skins and aging for 12 months in French oak tonneaux and 12 months in steel tanks give a wine with rich and complex aromas, well-structured on the palate, warm and enveloping. A Barbera of great character capable of evolving over a long time.

Monolite, Monferrato Casalese Cortese DOC (2022)

A powerful, enveloping, fine, and elegant expression of Cortese. A wine that can be appreciated in its youth but aims to be loved after long years of aging in the bottle. The grapes come from the CRU “Bussone” vineyard, which boasts 38 years of age and a favorable position that gives healthy grapes with excellent concentration. Soft pressing, slow fermentation, Monolite ages in steel for 90% of the mass, 10% in barriques for a total of about 12 months. The result is a rich, fruity, floral wine that blossoms into pronounced minerality. On the palate, it is savory, fresh, full, and decisive, which year after year knows how to surprise with evolving notes.

Mè Frel, Monferrato Casalese Cortese DOC (2023)

Vinified and aged entirely in steel to best preserve the freshness and primary notes of Cortese, maintaining the purity and typicality of the grape, offering an authentic expression of the Monferrato territory.

With an aromatic bouquet, often presenting scents of white flowers, combined with fruity notes of white pulp, fresh and sincere on the palate, pleasant, and versatile for various occasions.
