SUSTAINABILITY
IN THE “HERE AND NOW”

For Hic et Nunc, sustainability is a promise, a vocation that is an intrinsic part of the winery’s philosophy. From the vine to the bottle, a true journey that, day after day, aims to celebrate and protect the biodiversity that characterises the Basso Monferrato area.

Love and respect for this land are demonstrated through attention and the daily concrete actions both great and small that range from improving energy efficiency to reducing waste and environmental impact, with the aim of expressing the richness and authenticity of our wonderful territory.

OUR CHOICES

ORGANIC
CERTIFICATION

Organic vine growing is a fundamental aspect of Hic et Nunc production.

Our goal is to preserve the biodiversity of the soil, favouring the proliferation of micro-organisms that increase the fertility of the terrain and render the plants stronger, while avoiding the use of chemical fertilisers and antiparasitics.

An organic wine is obtained through respect for the most precious asset that surrounds us, our land. This is the only way that our grapes can express all the characteristics of the vineyards, creating a combination of quality and excellence.

BIOPASS: PROTECTING OUR LAND

Analysis, research and constant monitoring. Hic et Nunc has joined the Biopass project, which stands for BIOdiversità (BIOdiversity), Paesaggio (landscape), Ambiente (environment), Sostenibilità (Sustainability) and Equità Sociale (Social Equality), promoted by Sata Studio Agronomico Benefit to monitor, safeguard and increase biodiversity in vine growing.

Drawing on its knowledge of the characteristics of the vineyards, Hic et Nunc is committed to making more informed decisions, ensuring that every action taken respects the delicate balance of the ecosystem.

Recent studies have concentrated, in particular, on the vineyards that produce Grignolino, Barbera and Cortese, the most representative wines of Monferrato, and over the coming years will continue to improve sustainability strategies and constantly raise the quality of the products.

For Hic et Nunc, sustainability is a promise, a vocation that is an intrinsic part of the winery’s philosophy.

BEES IN THE VINEYARDS FOR BIODIVERSITY

The beehives set up adjacent to the vineyards play a crucial role in promoting biodiversity. Bees are, in fact, precious allies in ensuring that the grapes are highly productive and of the best quality. These creatures are true environmental sentinels, guaranteeing the good health of the ecosystem by pollinating the plants that lie between the rows of vines, improving soil fertility and slowing erosion.

GREEN ENERGY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Hic et Nunc’s focus on the theme of sustainability is also represented by our progressive energy transition. The Winery is certified energy class A2, equipped with a photovoltaic system that improves the energy efficiency of the complex and reduces consumption. Furthermore, the building has advanced thermal insulation, high-efficiency windows and high-performance heating and cooling systems that reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, leading to a tangible reduction in environmental impact.

risorse idriche

SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF WATER RESOURCES

Respecting and making the most of water resources is a central aspect of our commitment to sustainable development. Water, which is a primary and vital resource for the cultivation of our vines, represents an essential element in our production cycle. This is why Hic et Nunc has implemented a potable water distribution system aimed at reducing the use of plastic bottles and demonstrating a concrete commitment to protecting the environment.

An organic wine is obtained through respect for the most precious asset that surrounds us, our land.

RECYCLABLE PACKAGING TO RESPECT RAW MATERIALS

RECYCLED CORKS: SUSTAINABILITY IN EVERY DETAIL

The “green” soul of Hic et Nunc is expressed through a holistic approach that involves the entire production chain, including the corks for each bottle, which are certified by Amorim Cork Italia. Cork is an extremely simple yet innovative material, as it is sustainable, recyclable and reusable. Through “VIVA – Sostenibilità del Vino” certification, Amorim quantifies the amount of carbon dioxide saved for every bottle; in 2023 alone, Hic et Nunc contributed to the absorption of 3.5 tons of CO2, evidence that even the smallest gestures can make a difference.

Lastly, the Winery supports the ethical collection of corks set in motion by Amorim in collaboration with associated non-profit organisations, in a circular economy cycle in complete harmony with nature.
